The Best Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo
The Q Revo is a great option for those looking for a mid-range robot vacuum and mop. It provides a fantastic mopping experience but lacks the features that make up its more expensive sibling.
In the course of testing, it was able to handle dry oats and dust on carpets of medium pile as well as pet hair on hard flooring. But, unlike cheaper models, it doesn't use LIDAR to determine the layout of your home.
1. iRobot Roomba S9+
The iRobot Roomba S9+ robot vacuum is one of the top-rated robots. It comes with a variety of features and impressive cleaning power, such as the dirt compartment built into the base of charging. This robot can also learn your habits of cleaning and suggest automatic schedules for a truly hands-free experience.
The iRobot Home App guides you through the setup process. Once the system is in place it can begin automatic cleaning with a single button press. You can choose a general clean that focuses on the removal of larger pieces of debris like rice and cereal. You can also choose two mappings to ensure that the entire home is thoroughly cleaned.
This robot vacuum is effective on both floors with no carpet and carpets with a low pile. It can take in large objects and doesn't lose suction as rapidly as other models do, and it can even remove pet hair without much difficulty. It's not able to work with high-pile carpets or plush carpets however iRobot promises that the next models will be better.
The S9+ features a new design from iRobot, which is focused on enhancing corner and edge cleaning. It's the first Roomba to adopt a flat-fronted D-shaped design, which it hopes will allow it to fit into walls and furniture. It's a great improvement over the standard hockey puck shape of robovacs, but we discovered it to be only incrementally better than circular models.
iRobot claims that the S9+ also has a superior filtration system that blocks tiny particles and allergens from circulating in your home. It's a nice claim however, we're not convinced that it's enough to justify the high price price.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of a combination of sensors to remember your home's layout and vSLAM technology for mapping the interior. This allows it to avoid obstacles like staircases and other barriers, and also to clean your entire house efficiently possible. The iRobot Home App allows you to schedule cleaning times and create virtual boundaries so that the robot can determine the areas that require attention.
2. Roborock Q Revo
When it is about robots that combine mopping and vacuuming, the Roborock Q Revo stands out. Its vac settings are just as effective as those of higher-end models and its mopping feature is even better. Its spinning pads do a better job of cleaning your floors than a stationary vibrating pad.
It's only downside is the absence of a second brush for more thorough cleaning. However, it's not a big deal if you want to own one of the top robots on the market. The dust tank of the robo-vac is larger than many of its competitors and filling it takes just two or three cycles even when you've got a lot of dirt.
As for the mopping system, I was impressed by its ability to scrub tough dirt off my floors. Its two mopping modes at the lowest that are less abrasive than the higher-powered ones create little noise, allowing you to work or watch TV without distraction. It will gently bump into furniture or walls and move on if it comes across one.
The Q Revo is unique in that it can run almost completely on its own, with no user involvement. The robo-vac comes with a multi-function dock that automatically transfers physical trash to the bin hidden from view, as well as washes and dry the mop pads, and refills its clean water tank. The app is good at alerting you when something requires attention, like the water tank being empty or a scheduled vacuuming session being cancelled because of a full dust bin.
You can also create or combine rooms to customize the way that Q Revo handles your home. This is a great feature for those who have multiple areas of your home with different floor materials or if there's some items that need to be cleaned out frequently, such as toys, clothes, and books. The robot vacuum is also efficient and was one of the top performers in my tests, taking debris from carpets as well as hardwoods in its first run. It can even vacuum up wet spills. I recommend drying them with a towel before sending it in.
3. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni
The X2 Omni is a premium robot mop and vacuum that comes with all the features you can need. It comes with an omni-rotating mop as well as a powerful vacuum that can clean carpets and hard floors. It's similar to the iRobot Roomba S9+. It also comes with an auto-cleaning station that automatically washes and empties mop pads to keep them fresh and ready for reuse. It also features a new sensor system that can better detects obstacles, granting it the ability to avoid falling over furniture and other objects.
The most significant improvement over the ECOVACS Deebot X1 is that it is sleeker and more modern design thanks to Danish firm Jacob Jensen Design (best known for Bang & Olufsen products). Although it's still quite large--it's more than two feet in height and depth and weighs nearly four pounds--the robot and its base are much less bulky than the Roborock Q Revo or iRobot j7.
This version is more efficient than the X1 since it charges faster and cleans 1,500 square feet in one charge. It also has a bigger and more robust dustbin that can store more debris. This makes it easier to empty.
Finally, the X2 Omni has a more intuitive app as well as voice assistant that operates offline, which means you can use it even if you're not home. It also has an intelligent routing feature that lets it clean specific areas or rooms of your home instead of following a predetermined route.
The X2 Omni has the top mopping performance of any robot we've tested due to its mop pads rotating to clean tough stains away and a motor that generates plenty of downward pressure. Its vacuuming capabilities are excellent too and it increases suction when it detects carpet to ensure it's doing an excellent job. It has a large rechargeable battery that can last up to seven days. The mopping mode of the robot is also extremely effective.
4. Dreametech L10s Ultra
The Dreametech L10s Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a premium model that comes with a variety of features that aren't typically found on robots in this price range. It can make detailed floor maps and identify various flooring types. It's also one of the few robots that automatically clean and dry its mop pad. These features are nice, but read more they also push the L10s into the class of luxury. This might make it more expensive than what homeowners want.
The L10s Ultra looks like a modern floor cleaner. It's tall and slim, with a white finish accented with silver elements and mirror plating. The front of the machine has an enormous bumper that shields the furniture and vacuum cleaner as you move around your home. Sensors are concealed behind the front panel, which help the L10s Ultra navigate tight corners and avoid obstacles.
On the top, you'll find one button that serves as the on/off switch. This button will turn on the vacuum. If you click it again, it will turn it off and transmit it back to its base station. The center of the control panel is a circular menu that allows you to select cleaning modes or schedules, as well as preferences. The left and right buttons will open the settings of the app which allow you to customize how the L10s Ultra interacts with your home.
Similar to the iRobot Roomba S9+ and Roborock Q Revo, the L10s Ultra uses a combination of LIDAR and camera-based navigation technologies to map out your house. This produces a precise floor plan that allows the robot vacuum and mop effectively and avoid getting stuck in areas with clutter. The LIDAR helps the robot vacuum avoid obstacles and recognize them, which is an excellent feature for homes with pets or children.
The L10s Ultra offers solid vacuuming performance that clears 98.4 percent of debris from our hard-floor test and removing all but the most difficult juice stains. The mops are also efficient, taking away 98.4% of debris on our wood, tile and carpet tests. It was not as effective in removing sand from our hard floor or quaker oats from the carpet.
